Mirror & dressing table set & make-up
Mirror, tray, accessories and make-up used by Anna Pavlova. The accessories include: a circular powder bowl and cover; 4 small cylindrical cosmetic jars of which 3 have shaped covers; one medium size cylindrical container with a cover containing 2 small make-up pads; an oblong hinged lidded box divided inside into 2 compartments containing hair grips; a comb; a glass scent spray; an oblong tray; 3 orange sticks; a small paint brush; a thimble; a lipstick; a crayon from Dorin, Paris; a box of Boots 'Les Fleurs' rouge de ville; a box of D'Orsay Poudre Compacte; a box of Cervieri's Fard de Grand Luxe.
The material this group is made of might be 'Pyralin' (nitrocellulose pyroxylin), manufactured by Du Pont. Various brand names such as 'Dubarry' and 'Imperial' were used for this product. These particular types of sets do not seem to have been marketed in the UK, but in the USA, France and Australia, which might indicate when Pavlova acquired it. However, the comb which is part of this set is stamped 'Made in England'.
