Miniature, miniature portrait
This miniature portrait of Gertie Millar is based on photo taken by Lafayette on 22 October 1928 (one copy of this photo is held at the National Portrait Gallery in London). According to a plaque on the back of the miniature it used to hang in Orchard Cottage. After the death of her second husband in 1932, Gertie Millar returned to England from France, where she had been living since 1924, and moved to Orchard Cottage in Surrey.
