Memento mori ring; mourning ring for Mary Pawson
A gold mourning ring with a hexagonal bezel set with table-cut rock crystal covering a skull on a black ground. The hoop consists of five black enamelled scrolls linked by reversed C-scrolls and is inscribed
'Mary Pawson OB 17 OC. 1738 AE 36'.The back of the bezel is gadrooned. This ring commemorated Mary Pawson's death and was worn in memory of her.
