Printed Ephemera — 1951
South Bank exhibition
Colour photographic postcard from the Festival of Britain, 1951 showing the South Bank exhibition. The image shows the Fairway, one of the main thoroughfares of the site. Also visible are the Dome of Discovery and the Skylon, with the Transport Pavilion on the right. The South Bank Exhibition with its futuristic pavilions and modern public art provided a startling contrast to the drab and bomb-damaged city.
