My London Country Lane
Sheet music for the popular music hall song 'My London Country Lane' with lyrics by Edgar Bateman and music composed by Albert Perry. This song was made popular by Alec Hurley. The colour lithographed includes an illustration of Hurley typically dressed as a costermonger beside the market in Drury Lane.
Alec Hurley was one of London's most famous and popular music hall 'coster' singers. Born in east London in 1871 Hurley's first job was as a tea packer in London's docks. In 1905 he married Marie Lloyd but died aged only 42 in 1913.
