Hiawatha's Wedding Feast
This pamphlet was printed to accompany the highly popular choral work ‘Hiawatha’ by Black composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. Born in Holborn in 1875, he was the son of a medical student from Sierra Leone and an English woman. Coleridge-Taylor studied at the Royal College of Music and went on to become Professor of Composition at the Guildhall School of Music. He died of pneumonia aged only 37.
