The Burial Service
This sixteen page printed small booklet contains the burial service or ' the order for the burial of the dead'. It has a black impressed cover with gilded lettering and a central monogram. Inside are handwritten details of the funeral at which the booklet was distributed by the funeral director William Nodes of 201 Holloway Road. Below the words 'In Memoriam' the name of a young child ' Valentine Marcus Shrubsole' has been written in, in black ink, followed by the information that the death had occurred on 2 March 1899 and that the infant had been aged one year and sixteen days. The body was interred at Abney Park cemetery four days later at 3 o'clock on 6 March.
