Printed Ephemera — 1924
Souvenir of Wembley 1924
Souvenir guide to the India Pavilion at the British Empire Exhibition, held at Wembley in 1924. This 32 page illustrated guide was sold to visitors for one shilling and includes descriptions and black and white photos of the main areas of the Pavilion. The India Pavilion covered an area of 133,000 square feet. Designed and built in the Indo-Saraceine style, the domed main entrance gave way to a series of themed rooms named after the British provinces in India: the Bengal, Punjab, Bombay, Madras and United Provinces. Smaller rooms exhibited goods from other parts of India, such as cotton weaving from Baroda and carvings from Mysore.
