Printed Ephemera — 1870-1885
Card, valentine card
Handfinished valentine's card in the form of a sheet of buff card with a serrated edge printed with a comic verse entitled 'A Valentine'. The theme of the verse is to liken a woman to a cat and is cruel and sarcastic, the last line being 'marriage with you would be a Cat-astrophe'. Beside is applied an embossed card 'scrap' showing a cat dressed as a woman.
