Printed Ephemera — 1951
Exhibition of Science
Poster advertising the Exhibition of Science at the Science Museum, South Kensington, part of the Festival of Britain 1951. The futuristic design of the poster was by Robin Day. The exhibition was held in a new wing of the Science Museum, and introduced visitors to the latest discoveries in science. There were displays about the world of the atom, the Periodic Table, and cosmic rays. Amongst the most popular exhibits were the 'tortoises', small 'robots' that moved around by themselves in response to light. By way of contrast, there were also real tortoises on show.
