Clarendon House
Clarendon House, built by Edward Hyde, Earl of Clarendon, in the 1660s and demolished in 1683 after his fall from power and flight to France. It stood opposite St James's Street, was designed by Sir Roger Pratt and cost over £40,000. Pepys described it as 'the finest pile I ever did see in my life'.
