Bass Relief Sculpture on the base of Monument
Text reads: Sculpture in Basso Rilievo, executed by Caius Gabriel Cibber, on the western front of the base of the Monument, in commemoration of the Fire of London. From Wilkinson's Londina Illustrata. Image shows many figures in classical dress on ?foundations of new building. In the background a new brick building is being completed by workmen. The image is full of symbolic references, such as hands with eyes in the palm, beehives. One figure is an angel. Above this group is a cloud with two females, one with a cornucopia.
