George Byng Lord Torrington
George Byng, Lord Torrington (1663-1733). "In the Collection of the Right Hon Lord Vic. Torrington." Byng had a successful career in the Navy, was made first Viscount Torrington in 1721 and was First Lord of the Admiralty from 1727 to his death. His son John was the unfortunate Admiral Byng unfairly condemned and executed for cowardice in 1757.
