Social History — 1999
Handbill
This cardboard cutout is in the shape of an intercom, and is printed with the 'Star Trek' slogan 'Beam me up Scotty'. It was collected by a group of London lesbians called the 'Deep Space Dykes' who visited the 'Star Trek' exhibition held in Te Papa in New Zealand. The group was formed in 1997 by six lesbians who were all devoted fans of the 'Star Trek' TV and film series, and gained a membership of around 30.
