Adolescence A booklet on sexual health from an Islamic perspective
This booklet was one of three publications in the 'The Cycle of Life' series intended to contribute towards an increasing awareness and knowledge of sexual health matters within the Muslim Community. The other two booklets focused on the subjects of 'Women' and 'Marriage.' The series, written by Humera Khan was was published by the An-Nisa Society and designed and illustrated by Iman Publishing.
The An-Nisa Society is a women managed organisation, based in the London Borough of Brent, working for the well-being of Muslim families and individuals. Since its establishment in 1985 the organisation has led the way in the development of pioneering initiatives in social and welfare services from an Islamic perspective. These have included the As Shifa Project (on sexual abuse), Ra'ayah Project (on fostering and adoption), development of Islamic counselling and sexual health education.
The organisation donated the series of Cycle of Life booklets to the Museum as part of our Collecting 2000 project that aimed to capture a snapshot of life in London in the year 2000.
