This postcard shows a photograph of a disabled street seller with one arm missing. It is entitled 'A walking shop. Studs and Laces'. On the back is a greeting and a postmark dated December 8th 1906. During the first half of the 20th century there was no welfare state provision for the disabled. Many were forced to earn their living as street sellers but pay was very low and work was seasonal.
