Printed Ephemera — 1912
Ticket, admission ticket
This ticket was issued by the Greenwich Public Washouse and Baths in 1912. The ticket printed on blue card cost 6d and enabled the bearer to take a 'first class warm bath' in the men's section of the bath house. Most borough run public baths had more facilities for men than women. The baths were enclosed in separate cabins with a seat, hooks for clothing and sometimes a strip of carpet, mirror and brush and comb. The 'first class' bathing area also usually included a comfortable waiting room with a fire and supply of newspapers. As regulars gathered to take their weekly baths these first class waiting rooms often took on the air of a men's club.
