Printed Ephemera — 1860-1880
An Offering
Four sided, folding valentine's card, the base formed from a piece of folded green silk. Each of the four sides has an applied silver and white lace paper border surrounding centrally applied decoration. The top sheet has an applied cream satin pad printed with a love verse entitled 'An Offering', partially concealed by an embossed coloured paper floral garland. The applied decoration for the left hand inner sheet is now missing. The right hand inner panel has an applied bouquet of paper and silk flowers. The back of the card is decorated with an applied cut out paper image of a large shell filled with purple flowers.
