Jesus called a little child
This memorial card has the words 'Jesus called a Little Child unto him', from Matthew, XVIII,2. The cover has a black, white and silver border with an illustration of a child angel carrying a lily with a landscape scene behind with a church on the right hand side. On the inside, there is a four line verse: 'He was a flower too tender, too sweet and too fair/To live amongst the thorns of sin and care,/So Jesus took him from the world of sin and vice,/To bloom amongst the flowers in Paradise'. On the facing page are the words 'In Loving Memory of John, the beloved son of Arthur and Bathiah Cowton, Who entered into rest. Feb. 25th, 1902. Aged 7 months & 3 weeks'. The child's body was interred in the Western Cemetery, Hull on 28 February 1902.
