Printed Ephemera — 1897
Programme of the Royal Jubilee Procession
Illustrated programme of the Royal Procession from Buckingham Palace to St Paul's Cathedral produced for the celebrations for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897. The programme was produced in advance of the event with drawings by the illustrators of the Daily Graphic newspaper. Proceeds from the sale of the programme went to the Prince of Wales's Hospital Fund. The programme includes 50 pages of illustrations of carriages and their occupants and troops taking part in the event. Forces from all over the British Empire paraded along the circular route, including the Sierra Leone Force and Sierra Leone armed frontier police, as well as the Royal Niger Hausas and Gold Coast Hausas, the local police of the Gold Coast and Niger regions of West Africa.
