Printed Ephemera — 1854
Playbill
Double column playbill for the Princess's Theatre, Oxford Street announcing performances for the 1854 season including productions of 'Hamlet' and 'Harlequin Miller and his Men'.
The Princess's Theatre opened in 1840 but was completely rebuilt in 1880. During the 1850s the theatre was managed by the actor Charles Kean. During his time at the Princess's Theatre Kean staged a number of historically accurate Shakespeare revivals that proved hugely successful with the public.
