Printed Ephemera — 1860-1880
Card, valentine card
Handfinished Valentine's card comprising a sheet of white lace paper with embossed flower and lace paper wreath surrounding a central oval panel. Applied to the panel is a cut out embossed paper scrap of cupid and below two small embossed paper flower garlands and an arrangement of thin fabric clouds in blue, pink and yellow. In the centre a blue paper roundel with a frame of embossed silver flowers marked 'A little match maker'. This roundel flaps down to reveal a gilded paper wedding ring and the hidden message 'Will you be my next customer'.
