Printed Ephemera — 1997-07
Gay Times
This magazine is the 250th edition of the magazine 'Gay Times', published in July 1999 and costing £2.99. The 'Gay Times' started out as 'Him Monthly' in the late 1970s and later merged with 'Gay Reporter' edited by Denis Lemon. Lemon famously brought out the paper 'Gay News' in 1972, which prospered, despite the fact that Mary Whitehouse successfully prosecuted him for blasphemy. 'Gay Times' is the longest running gay publication outside the US. This issue looks back over gay concerns of the previous 15 years, including the pink economy, HIV, clubbing and Clause 28.
