Printed Ephemera — 1851-1875
Love
Valentine's card composed of two layers of lace paper attached by paper springs and decorated with applied decoration. The bottom sheet stamped 'Windsor' has a white lace paper border and open rectangular central panel filled with cream satin. Applied to the satin panel is a small oval shaped paper illustration of an angel unleashing a shower of flowers. This is surrounded by a border of white fabric leaves, silver paper leaves and dried berries painted red and green. Also decorated with a gilded metal foil 'Love'. The top layer comprises a silver and white lace paper border with open panel revealing central decoration below. Applied to this border are gilded, silver and green paper leaves, dried berries painted red, green, purple and white fabric flowers.
