Social History
Display panels, notice board
The campaigning group, New Cross Project, donated this artwork to the Museum's Collecting 2000 project. It comprises four wooden panels that link to form a tree. Pinned to the wall are yellow paper bricks and green leaves on which New Cross residents of have written ideas and concerns about local issues. The group wrote:
'The New Cross Project is about finding new ways to involve people in planning the future of their area. We take the tree out to every event we run. Problems go on bricks and solutions go on leaves. Everyone's problems or ideas are equally valued. The tree is symbolic of the project. It is straightforward, fun and easy to contribute to.'
