Token of Sincere Affection

Valentine's card formed from two layers of embossed and lace paper. The top layer is in the form of an arch painted pink and silver with applied fabric and embossed paper flowers and foliage. The central panel if open to reveal the decoration on the under layer. This layer is formed from light blue lace paper embossed with flower decoration. In the centre is a cream satin panel applied to which is a cut out coloured paper illustration of two small female children attending to a basket of flowers.

The introduction of the penny post in 1840 meant sending cards became easier and cheaper. A thriving business developed in central London producing cards and card components.
