Elite Gardens from Flip -Flap
Mounted picture postcard, 'Elite Gardens from Flip-Flap', Japan-British Exhibition, 1910. The Elite Gardens were situated in the centre of the Exhibition area beside the Grand Restaurant run by the catering firm J.Lyons. The Garden bandstand hosted a programme of music that changed daily. Musical sessions began at 12.30pm and continued until the exhibition closed at 11.00pm. Music was usually performed by military bands and often themed according to the exhibition season. For the Japan-British exhibition, regular performers at the gardens included the Imperial Japanese Military Band.
