Miniature chamber pot
Silver miniatures were sold by 'toymen' as accessories for baby houses or as fashionable trinkets for the wealthy. The word 'toy' at this time could mean either a child's plaything or an adult's knick-knack. Expensive silver toys like this one would have been purchased by adult collectors and were not for children to play with.
This chamber pot is part of a collection of silver miniatures given to the London Museum by Ida Blackett, along with the Blackett family baby house. The baby house's original 18th century owner, Lady Anne Blackett, would probably have collected such toys.
