Port & River — C. 1875
The Torrens
A sailor-made model of the clipper ship Torrens. The Torrens was built in 1875 for the wool trade between England and Australia. Part of the Elder shipping line fleet, she was eventually scarpped in 1910. She is possibly most famous for being the ship on which the writer Joseph Conrad served between 1891 - 1892.
