The Bubbler's Medley or a Sketch of the Times being Europe's Memorial of the Year 1720

Broadside comprising a trompe l’oeil montage of etchings satirising the stock collapse of the South Sea Company in 1720. Entitled 'The Bubbler's Medley or a Sketch of the Times being Europe's Memorial of the Year 1720 the broadside, printed by Thomas Bowles for the printseller Carrington Bowles, mocks those who unwisely invested in South Sea Company shares and the wickedness of the directors of the company. The satirical etchings include a speculator looking behind prison bars on which hang a begging pot; a brokers receipt for South Sea Company shares; illustrated ballads entitled 'The wise man and the ass,' 'The stock-jobbing ladies'; 'Beggars on horseback' and 'A South Sea ballad'; the Knave of Spades playing card; a wrapper addressed to 'Bowles' the printer; A 'Bubble Card' and an anamorphosis of a man on horseback.
