The Suffragette Leader Christabel Pankhurst Sitting for her Wax Sculpture at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum
The Suffragette leader Christabel Pankhurst sitting for her wax sculpture at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, London, 1909. The sculptor see in the image was John Tussaud, Great Grandson of the founder of the museum. As well as Christabel Pankhurst, Madame Tussaud's also displayed wax models of Emmeline Pankhurst, Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence and Annie Kenney. They were placed in the museum facing Asquith's current government which prompted Annie Kenney to comment the government figures may melt under the combined glare of the four Suffragette leaders.
