Printed Ephemera — 1905-1914
Florence Nightingale
Black and white postcard printed with a statue of Florence Nightingale tending a wounded soldier. This was one in a series of postcards commemorating female heroines reproducing images originally published in Nursing Notes. The postcard was produced as propaganda for the pro-female suffrage campaign to celebrate the achievements of historical heroines and raise their status as inspirational female role models.
The statue in the postcard is part of the Science Museum, London collections.
