Printed Ephemera — 1914-1928
Les Femmes Ne Votent Pas; Women Don't Vote
Pro-female suffrage propaganda postcard produced and sold by the Bibliothèque Féministe, feminist bookshop in Paris. The postcard with text printed in French and English is headed 'Les Femmes Ne Votent Pas; Women Don't Vote'. The card is illustrated with two images depicting a parliamentary candidate canvassing door-to-door in a working class neighbourhood. Whilst the candidate is prepared to give the poor money he does not value an all female household as women do not have voting rights.
In France women did not obtain the right to vote in Parliamentary Elections until 1944.
