Miss C. Pankhurst at Trafalgar Square Inviting the Audience to 'Rush' The House of Commons on October 13.
Christabel Pankhurst speaking at a rally in Trafalgar Square on 11th October 1908. During her speech Christabel urged the audience to 'rush' the House of Commons on 13th October. As a result she and the other speakers at the rally Emmeline Pankhurst and Flora Drummond were arrested and charged with involvement in incitement to 'rush the House of Commons, resulting in a sentence of three months imprisonment in Holloway Gaol. This postcard was issued by the National Women's Social and Political Union to raise both awareness of the Suffragette message and raise funds for the campaign.
