Englands glory or the glory of England being a new mapp of the Citty of London
This map shows London in 1676, when much of the rebuilding work after the Great Fire had been completed. By this stage new streets linking the Guildhall to the river had been created (King Street and Queen Street), Fleet Street had been widened, an improved quayside and the Fleet Canal had been built, work had begun on the City churches and 8000 houses were finished (though some were still unoccupied) as well as other key City buildings such as the Guildhall. In total over 9000 houses and 51 churches were rebuilt and the work took several more years to be finished. This map clearly shows that the City's old medieval street plan has been retained to a great extent.
