Furnival's Inn, Holborn, Antiently the Mansion of the Lords Furnival
Furnival's Inn, Holborn - now the site of the offices erected in the late c19th for the Prudential Insurance company but no longer used by them. This view of the Inn shows the south frontage onto Holborn. The mansion became an inn of chancery by the gift of teh Furnival family c. 1408. It was taken down 1640 and rebuilt by Inigo Jones. Again rebuilt 1818-20. Sold 1853, northern portion of the site occupied by Wood's Hotel (see British History Online: source: Furnival's Inn. A Dictionary of London, Henry H Harben (1918).)
