A Three Part Parody on Cherry Ripe
Broadside printed with the words of three popular songs that could be heard in London's theatres in the mid 1820s. The words are printed in two columns of a sheet which could be cut down the centre to produce two ballad or song slips. The songs printed are 'A three part parody on cherry ripe or heavy wet, mutton chops and cherry bounce sung by Mr John Reeve at the Adelphi', 'Cherry Ripe', sung by Madame Vestris in Paul Pry and 'The Last Farewell'.
The heart of London's ballad trade was Seven Dials area where printers such as John Pitts, James Catnach and Thomas Birt generated the bulk of London's street literature.
