The Green Man
John Atkinson issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business in Turnmill Street, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3238; Obv inscription: IOHN.ATKINSON.IN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Green man with a club over his shoulder [Boyne has Hercules with club] (in field); Rev inscription: TVRNE.MILL.STREETE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.I.A. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
