The Baker's Peel
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued by a baker, for their business in Bow Street, Middlesex. The token depicts a bakers' peel, a flat shovel, used to get bread and other goods in and out of ovens.
Boyne & Williamson (1891) reference London number 393; Obv inscription: BOW.STREET.BACKER (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A baker's peel (in field); Rev: IN.WESTMINSTER.1659 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = T.A.S. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
