Stocking
Sock of thin knitted wool of light brown (khaki) colour, with strengthening at heel, badly holed.Catalogue note by Lesley O'Connell Edwards: Complete wool stocking knitted in the round, though some of the fabric is missing. The top edge is present, as is the toe shaping. There is some damage in the heel area, but the short row garter stitch heel shaping is visible. Average round tension is 5.5 rounds per cm; average stitch tension on foot is 3.5 stitches per inch, and on the leg 3.1 stitches per cm.
