Scenes from the Life of Oliver Cromwell
In this gilt frame there are nine oil paintings, each depicting a scene in the life of Oliver Cromwell.
As well as portraits of him at different stages of his life, a number of key events have been portrayed. Among these are the victory at Marston Moor, Cromwell dictating to Milton and Cromwell dissolving the Long Parliament.
Two pictures flank the central image of Cromwell's installation ritual which closely resembled a Coronation ceremony, following the execution of Charles I.
