Chimpanzee Tea Party
Set of toy figures and accessories for a Chimpanzees' Tea Party.
Comprising 3 brown cast iron monkeys, a table & three chairs, 3 blue cast iron plates with bananas, 1 zoo keeper and 1 pail. Stored in original card box with printed black and white paper label illustrated with the tea party. Manufactured by the London toy firm of F.G.Taylor, based in North London, the set was part of Taylor's zoo series No.179.
The firm was established in 1945 when Fred Taylor junior revived the cast lead toy company his father had previously owned with the Barrett family. Fred's new factory was located at 22 Hampden Road, N19. It traded until the 1970s.
