Saxon & Medieval — Middle Saxon - Saxo-Norman; 9th-10th century
Spear, spearhead
This long Viking spearhead was found in the Thames at Brentford. It may have been dropped during a battle between the Vikings and the Anglo-Saxons. As the Vikings were sea raiders, coastal and riverside areas were particularly vulnerable to attack.
