Sickle
Iron sickle with a maker's mark on the blade. The handle is missing. Sickles were used to harvest crops and to cut hay. London craftworkers made tools for use in farming villages around the city. Country people also came to London to buy farm equipment, ploughs, carts and carthorses at the cattle market in Smithfield.
