This decorative pin is made from bone and has a cruciform head and a large perforation. One arm of the cross is missing. The head has an unusually high level of decoration, with incised lines delineating the form of the cross. This type of pin is common among Anglo-Saxon and Viking Age sites. This pin is likely to have been used to fasten clothing; pins, brooches, straps and ties were all used before buttons because the preferred method of fastening clothes.
