Coin, nummus AE3
A copper alloy nummus of the House of Constantine, the ruling dynasty of the Roman Empire, AD 306-364. The back of the coin depicts Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. This coin was minted in Treveri (modern day Trier, Germany), AD 330-331.
Obv: Helmeted bust of Constantinopolis, facing left, with a reversed spear over the left shoulder and wearing the imperial cloak. Obv inscription: CONSTANTINOPO(L)IS. Rev: Victory, standing left on the prow of a ship, holding a sceptre in her right hand and a resting her left hand on a shield. Rev inscription: TR.S. in exergue.
