Post-Medieval — Tudor; 16th-early 17th century
Sheath
Leather multiple sheath for a set of knives or a dagger and by-knife. The seam at the side has been glued rather than stitched. The front is decorated with incised linear designs and small stamped crescents. The incisions are very shallow on the leather. There are two leather linings inside indicating the sheath was made to carry two implements. The copper-alloy chape protecting the tip is plain. The textile (silk?) attachment cords are still in situ.
