Saxon & Medieval — Late Medieval; 15th century
Patten
Left foot adult leather patten. The patten is made up of a sole and approximately five layers of leather. It has a very pointed toe and a narrow waist. The heel is quite worn. There is a small double toe strap and there are traces of the heel strap on either side of the heel, just below the waist. There is a stitching channel in the sole and the stitch holes are at right angles to the outer edge of the patten. There is fine grit embedded in the outer sole from wear.
