Royal Albert Hall
The Royal Albert Hall opened in 1871 following the success of the Great Exhibition of 1851, held in nearby Hyde Park. The Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 established several museums and colleges in South Kensington, as well as the Royal Albert Hall. Prince Albert died before completion of the building and Queen Victoria named it in memory of him.
Christina Broom was a professional photographer who produced a series of London street views for sale as postcards. She later photographed the activities of the suffrage movement in London and is considered one of the earliest female press photographers.
