Token, trade token
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business at the sign of the Three Tuns, in Holywell Court (area off Holywell Lane), Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2810; Obv inscription: AT.THE.3.TVNES.IN.HOL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Three tuns (in field); Rev inscription: OWEL.COART.SHORDITCH (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = L.I.B. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
Holywell Court lay off Holywell Lane, in the parish of St Leonard Shoreditch, in Middlesex; the area is now part of the London Borough of Hackney.
